Starring Bing Crosby as Bob Wallace, Danny Kaye as Phil David, Rosemary Clooney as Betty Haynes, Vera-Ellen as Judy Haynes and Dan Jagger as Major General Thomas F Waverly.

Vera-Ellen’s career peaked in the 50s. Once musicals went on the decline, so did her career. She had personal tragedies of 2 failed marriages and her only child that died of SIDs. She was also anorexic at a time little was known about this disease.

Rosemary Clooney first sang on WLW in 1941 at 13. Her brother is Nick Clooney and that is George Clooney’s dad. Rumor has it George and his aunt were not close.

Mary Wickes is Emma Allen, the housekeeper. She is also in one of my favorite movies, Postcards from the Edge. She is the Grandma.

Danny Kaye’s real name is David Daniel Kamlinski.

Bing Crosby’s real name is Harry Lillis Crosby.

The first time Bing Crosby sang White Christmas was 13 years earlier on a radio show called The Kraft Music Hall.

Fred Astaire was supposed to play Danny Kaye’s role, but he declined.

The song White Christmas was written in 1940 by Irving Berlin in Banning CA. While he was staying at a friend’s house, a light snowfall covered the area. Bing Crosby sang the song in 1942 in Holiday Inn. The Vermont Inn set was also a refurbished version of the inn from Holiday Inn.

When Kaye & Crosby sing the sisters’ song, Bing is actually laughing at Danny. The director added the scene after seeing Crosby and Kaye joking around on set.

Vera-Ellen did not sing any of the songs. Her parts were sung by either Rosemary Clooney or Trudy Stevens.

The picture of Bennie, the brother of the Haynes sisters, is actually Carl Switzer….aka “Alfalfa” from the Little Rascals.

One of the dancers with the Haynes sisters went onto do a little movie called West Side Story. He was a Shark named Bernardo and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

When Bing and Rosemary get a midnight snack, Bing made up most of the conversation about liverwurst sandwiches and buttermilk.

When the Betty and Judy talk about Bennie and how he is out of the country, it is not technically true. While Alaska was not a state until 5 years after the movie was released, it was a US Territory.

You never see Vera-Ellen’s neck the entire movie. It was her kind of trademark on covering her neck.

Some people say it was due to premature aging because of her eating disorder, however her neck and shoulders are seen in the movie A Star is Born.
